As you know this year has already been moving along quite quickly and we have entered the second month already. That means the cold weather is not too far away and it’s time to start thinking about protecting your staff from this year’s Influenza outbreaks.
I am sure you are aware, seasonal influenza affects thousands of people every year and accounts for up to 12% of all sickness absences at work. Considering that the flu is quite contagious through coughing and sneezing, even one employee presenting with symptoms of high fever, aching muscles, sore throat, dry cough, headache, vomiting, and diarrhoea, may spread the flu to other workers from as early as 1 day prior to any symptoms developing and up to 5 days after initial symptoms have begun. Seeing how easily an unprotected workforce can fall victim to the flu, the following question arises: Can your business afford to risk this loss in productivity?
Our Annual Influenza Vaccination Program offers an on-site service where qualified and experienced nursing staff travel to the employer’s workplace to undertake the necessary pre-screening and administering of flu vaccinations. We provide this service in the Adelaide metropolitan area and regional SA.
This year we are offering both the Trivalent and the Quadrivalent vaccines to our employers.
- Trivalent influenza vaccine (TIV), which contains three strains of influenza viruses (two A subtypes and one B lineage). TIVs have been in use in Australia for many years.
- Quadrivalent influenza vaccine (QIV), which contains four strains of influenza viruses (the same A subtypes and the B lineage in TIV, plus a second influenza B virus from the other B lineage). QIVs are made the same way as the TIVs and have been registered in Australia since 2014.
With increasing numbers of Australians being affected by pandemic and seasonal influenza each year, this is a necessary investment to keep your employees healthy, and productive.
